A summary analysis/evaluation of diversion sites and irrigation practices in the drainage basin of Cascade Reservoir. Identifies (through current and previous studies) agricultural irrigation activities as the main non-point source of phosphorus to the reservoir. Improvements recommended include improvements to and consolidation or relocation of diversion sites, allowing better water management; development of wetlands or re-conversion of drainage to broader, vegetated condition; installation of piezometers to monitor groundwater levels; conversion to sprinkler systems from sub-irrigation-, and stream/canal bank erosion control measures including selective fencing and lateral stock watering (these measures would also reduce the manure available for transport by the water flow).
